Maupin House Review and Giveaway!!

I had the wonderful opportunity to review two awesome books from Maupin House Publishing. I home school my two oldest children and I love that when given this opportunity, all I had to do was change up our day a little and the two books fit right in. It was great!!
I have had a little problem in the reading and writing department, the kids just were not into it. The two books, "Teaching Early Writing and Reading Together" and "Performance Literacy through Storytelling" were exactly what I needed.

"Teaching Early Writing and Reading Together" written up by Connie Campbell Dierking, takes mini-lessons and brings K-2 literacy instruction together. I loved that I found where each of my children are within the alphabetic principle, spelling, reading, and writing. This helps out tremendously, now I know which mini-lessons in the book will work best for each child. This book has taught me how to teach a writing/reading workshop and both the kids have their very own writing folder now. I have found that even though they are in two separate grades, they love working together as partners. I think this is the only time of the day that they actually get along. I am going to continue using this book as we move on through the school year.

"Performance Literacy through Storytelling" is such a fun book. Yes I did say fun. This book written up by Nile Stanley and Brett Dillingham showed me how to use storytelling within our school day. To tell the truth even I had fun interacting with the kids. The book comes along with CD which has 18 stories and musical tracks on it. My kids love listening to the stories after we learn about them, too bad we are actually learning a lot more then just about the story. The book is also broken down into mini lessons, which are easy to follow. My kids most enjoyed the role-playing that is done within some of the lessons.

  2. What a cool book. The book Before They Read also looks like something I would be interested in!

  3. Hi there. Learned about you from Tracy DeLuca. My blog is

Nice blog you got here although honestly I think you should drop the word "JUST" from your title. We are not "just a wife" or "just a mommy". We are "A Wife" and "A Mommy"! lol. I'm very egotistical when it comes to this title. We are not just, we are the supermoms. Seriuosly, nobody can beat our jobs. We work and yet we don't get paid. lol. But still love being.

And since I'm here, might as well join in your contest. I really like all the products they have for homeschooling but more specifically "Teach Spelling So It Sticks".

  4. Congrats!!Tracy chose #2.
