Busy as ever!!

The past few months have been crazy busy... I am not complaining because I LOVE that my kids are involved in activities, but maybe some sleep would be nice. LOL

My oldest is now 12, yes he has entered that final year before becoming a teenager. He is very involved with the Boy Scouts and has told me that he wants to continue until he is an Eagle Scout. That makes me very proud!

My one and only daughter is still very much involved with her Figure Skating. We have made a few changes with who coaches her, but she is doing wonderful! She has moved up to Basic 5 and now competes in the Basic 4 level. We have already been to 1 of 3 competitions this month. As of right now she is top in points for the series!

My 5 (6 next week) year old is doing well in school and will be starting T-ball next month along with my youngest who is now 4. They are both excited!

So despite being busy I really LOVE that the kids are doing things and having fun.

Just a little update on us.

Figure Skating

I would have never in a million years thought I would be raising a Figure Skater. But guess what? I am! My 10 year old daughter has been skating for just over a year. She started out in a learn to skate program at our local ice arena at Basic 1 and is now getting ready to level up to Basic 5.
I honestly can say I had no idea just what was involved in this skating thing. We went from skating one time per week to now skating 3 times per week. We went from no private coach to 2 separate coaches. We went from just skating at our arena to traveling around Michigan going to competitions.
It has been a crazy ride and I would not change it for anything. My daughter changes when she gets on the ice. She loves it and I am not one to try to stop any of my kids when they show interest in something.

I am still here!!

I just wanted to take a moment to give a little update and to let all my readers know that I am still around and will start posting again.

I would have never imagined just how busy my life would get once we were back living among the civilians. It has been an incredible journey filled with sadness and happiness. This past year I have watched my children grow, show interest in new things, and even take some amazing chances.

I have also been witness to my Husband coming out of his shell a little and taking a few chances himself. He is now going to school, hunting, and he is stable for the most part with his PTSD.

I will post what each child has been up to in separate posts. I could never fit everything for each of the 4 in one post. LOL

Thank You to all my readers for not giving up on me and being patient as my family has been adjusting to our new way of life!

Summertime

Summer is in full swing around my house! Summertime can be such a busy time with festivals, camps, and family get togethers. How do you stay organized all summer long? I have our whiteboard up on the wall and chose a color for each family member including the animals. Last night was a family trip to our local Corn Festival, today is a visit with some family visiting from out of state and my oldest will be helping out his Boy Scout Troop at the Corn Fest this afternoon, and tomorrow is a fun little fishing experience for all the kids! I try to plan out each week as it helps to know who has what going on each day. So tell me what some ways you stay organized when it comes to all the summertime activities?

Rascal Flatts – Changed: One Night Only Exclusive Movie Theatre Event

On Thursday April 5th at 8pm I had an amazing opportunity thanks to One2One Network and Fathom Events! I was able to go to my local theater and see Rascal Flatts on the BIG screen.

This show was amazing! I loved it, but my Husband felt it was kind of boring. I guess seeing into the lives of Rascal Flatts was just too much for him. For me seeing a more personal side to each of the members of Rascal Flatts made me LOVE them even more!

This was a special one night only viewing opportunity.

Before the show began they had music from various artists playing and a little trivia. I am pretty sure I got each of the trivia questions wrong even though I really thought I knew a lot about the band.

With a new album out, we were able to take a much closer look into the daily lives of Jay, Gary, and Joe Don! I was sad to hear that they almost went their separate ways, but happy to hear that with a few major changes they stayed together and also gave their fans another amazing album! Honestly I do not think there is one song from the new album I dislike. Every single song is one I can find something meaningful within.

As a mother of 4, I loved getting a glimpse of their families. All the children are so precious and finding out that the people behind the music are so much like me and my family made the opportunity that much more special to me.

To start the show there was a Welcome Message from the band, followed by a 45 minute concert, which not only allowed me to hear the songs from the new album, but also listen to a few of my past favorites. Between the songs were interviews and intimate glimpses into Jay, Gary, and Joe Don's lives! Each member of Rascal Flatts is an amazing individual which to me makes Rascal Flatts an amazingly wonderful group!

I found this opportunity so wonderful, I loved every minute of the show.

Thank You to One2One NetworkFathom Events, and to Saginaw 12 (Goodrich Quality Theaters) for this wonderful opportunity. I received 2 tickets for free to attend the show. I was not compensated in any other way. The words for this blog post are my own opinion.

Just a little frustration...

My daughter had been looking forward to a dance at the school for the last week and a half. They have half days on Fridays, so we had plenty of time to get ready. She picked out her dress 2 weeks ago and just this past week we had picked up tights and shoes. Did I mention that my daughter is 9 and this dance was being called The Daddy/Daughter, Mommy/Son Sweetheart Dance? Not only did we have everything that 4 out of the 6 in our family needed in order to be dressed up, but my Husband had to switch around a class in order to attend the dance.

On Friday I picked the kids up and went straight home, both of the two older kids took a shower and that was the start of the chaos. After my own shower, my daughter and I painted our nails a beautiful bright red. Okay I only did my toes, but my daughter did both her toes and fingers. Next came our hair, I did a nice up do on my daughter and she had a bunch of curls hanging down, for me I just straightened my hair and I thought it turned out quite nice. My daughter and I did make-up and then it was time to get dressed. We decided boys have it so much easier when it comes to getting ready for a dance and had a great laugh.

All 4 of us got dressed, packed a bag for the 2 younger boys to take with them to the baby sitter's house, and we were out the door.

Now between picking up the kids and us being ready to leave the house, it had started to snow, the weather had turned much cooler, and the wind started to blow. Yes, when backing out of the driveway we put the truck into 4WD! About 2 miles from our house, which was about 45 minutes until dance time, my phone rang.  It was the school calling to tell us that due to weather conditions they were cancelling the dance and it was rescheduled for next Friday.

Yes! When I heard that I said out loud "Are you kidding me?" Not that I didn't understand the reasons for cancelling since we had just witnessed not 1 but 2 vehicles having a horrific time trying to go over a bridge, but because of the short notice and the fact that we were already on our way to baby sitter's house to drop the boys off.

All the sudden we had kids crying because they were looking forward to something. 2 looking forward to the dance and 2 looking forward to going over and playing with the baby sitter's children.

Around here we have been having some great weather for it being winter, but this snow was not a surprise, in fact they had been talking about it all day, so why such short notice?

Anyway to help the kids feel a little better, my Husband decided to go out to dinner at one of our favorite places, and after we stopped at my parent's house to show off and take pictures.

Hopefully next Friday will be a nice day and we can finally go to the dance!
