Merry Christmas Everyone!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!! We will be hosting a dinner of sorts. We will be having 13 people over for dinner and I can't wait. It will be my family of 6, our friends family of 4, and 2 Soldiers who we invited to eat with us. I know what your saying, She said 13 right? Yes, I did. We are also taking a plate of food (maybe two) over to a Soldier who has duty, so he def. counts.

Tonight we used some awesome cookie cutters from CheapCookieCutters.com (review to follow in a few days) and made up Santa's Cookies. I also let my children wear the new jammies from my parents (4 less presents to wrap) LOL

Well I am off to finish wrapping a few presents and I have to fill the stockings. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe day.

Merry Christmas from my family to yours...

The Snowman's Song Review

Have you ever wondered how people of snow talk to each other? They do talk only we can not hear them. "It's true, you know, that people of snow send their thoughts around without making a sound." That is the first line of this wonderful book. A little snowman has but one wish and that wish is to sing, but there is a problem. That problem is that Snow people are made of snow and the snow makes no sound.

This story is the amazing journey of a little snowman and his wish of singing. Do you think he finds a voice among the silence of the snow? Pick up the book and find out.

This year for every book purchased on their website http://www.snowmanssong.com/ they will be giving a book to an underprivileged child. So when you purchase a book to enjoy for yourself or for your family, you are helping a child less fortunate then yourself. How awesome is that? Another bonus is that this book comes with an audio CD of the story. My children have enjoyed playing while listening to the CD.

The Snowman's Song quickly became my children's go to book. They love the story and the meaning behind it.

You can purchase the book here for $19.95, but it is on sale right now for $16.95. That is an amazing deal.

Thank You to Leaping Antelope Productions for allowing me to review such a wonderful book.

ZOOM Album Review And GIVEAWAY!!!

As most of you know we are Military family and live away from our families. We have also survived 3 deployments. I am going to tell you about an awesome product that can help you stayed connected through pictures. The ZOOM albums are such a wonderful product that is a do it yourself project. I received a kit that had everything to make 3 albums. There was a CD and all the paper provided in a colorful package. On Christmas morning we will have 3 happy families as they open up their albums. If my husband was deployed this year, they would have made the perfect item to send to him as they are just the right size to fit into the pocket of his uniform.

A little about Zoom Albums:
Zoom Albums are pocket-sized photo book that you make yourself at home in less than 10minutes. Seriously, that is all the time it took once I choose which pictures I wanted to use.
Zoom Albums are 3" X 3" photo books that display 12 photos on glossy, high-quality paper. The size is perfect for tossing into your purse, diaper bag, or for a military member to place in their pocket and have their family close by.
Each package comes with everything you will need to create three twelve (12)-picture photo albums. The best part is that once you have gotten one package, you can buy refills.

Since we were using these as gifts for the grandparents, I let the kidlets help with picking out the pictures. They had so much fun helping me. Once the pictures were picked, which is really easy with the CD. As we picked the pictures we put them right into the order we wanted.

You can buy Zoom Albums here

You can win a Zoom Albums kit right here and here is how: Please leave a separate comment for each entry and leave your email address so I have a way to get ahold of you if you win. Giveaway Closes December 31st!!!

My Story Blogs By Four Military Teens Review

Thanks to Seeds of Hope Books I had a wonderful opportunity to review a book. This book to me is a must have on every military installation and here is why. My Story is a book that is about 4 fictional youth with real life stories. The blogs are a compilation of real life experiences of the military kids the authors have been honored to meet and to learn from. This book shows what our children see, hear, and feel about certain aspects of military life. Being an Army wife and the mother of 4 Army brats, I was very interested in this book.

My children are younger with my oldest being 8, but after reading this book I asked my oldest a few questions because my heart felt what each of these teens were feeling. To my surprise, he actually did have some feelings that he needed to get out to me but didn't know how. So while the book is based on teen experiences it can help with younger children also.

First let me tell you a little about the 2 authors of this book, after that I will get more into the book itself.

Michelle D. Sherman, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and directs the Family Mental Health Program at the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is also a clinical associate professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

DeAnne M. Sherman, Michelle's mother, is a teacher with over 40 years experience educating, mentoring, and empowering teenagers.

The 4 blogs in this book address many issues that military teens are faced with, including pride in parent's military service, sadness, anger, and confusion regarding deployments, and the excitement of homecoming. Other issues addressed are the challenges of reconnecting after deployment, finding a new so called normal, teen depression, and divorce. The last two issues hit really close to home for me and they are dealing with parent's emotional and physical challenges such as PTSD and resilience and post-traumatic growth.

As a family we have gone through 3 deployments, the third being the one that would forever change our lives. We watched as the buses pulled away, well 3 of us watched as I was pregnant with our third at the time. 7 months later, the time came for R&R, also when we welcomed our third child into this world. 14 short days later 4 of us watched a plane take off taking Daddy back to war. Another 8 months passed and we were there waiting with excitement for Daddy to come walking into the gym. That night was wonderful, but as the weeks passed we learned that the man we welcomed home was not the same man we sent off on that bus. PTSD is now what we live with everyday in my house.

As I read about Mariah, Adam, Carlos, and Meredith, I found I could relate to each of them in a different way. There are extras in this book, pages after each blog section that state what the teen learned and a page that talks about the different issues faced by each teen. There are also a few pages in the end of the book where you can write down your own story.

My Story is not the only book available from Seeds of Hope Books, there are two others.
All 3 books are available for purchase at Seeds of Hope Books

I really do feel that each of the 3 books should be available to teens on every military installation. My Story is such a positive and powerful book that I feel could help everyone who reads it.

I received a free copy of My Story from Seeds of Hope Books to review on my blog. No other compensation was offered or accepted.

Please Help me figure out where this box came from

Okay this is going to sound REALLY bad, but the past few weeks I have been very unorganized (okay for the last month) I am making lists and getting things back on track. But.....

I received a box filled with wonderful sewing and quilting goodness yesterday and after going through all my sent emails and received emails I can not figure out where this box came from. Well I know where it came from, says the company name on the box. What I can not figure out is why. LOL

From today forward I will have to make an ongoing list of giveaways I win. I really don't think it is for a review, since it is a mix. I did find out while going through my emails that I won a couple giveaways and never received the prize, not a big deal though because I realize things come up. I myself have a few giveaway items I have to get in the mail, so sorry to those that are waiting for them, but good news they are all packed up and ready to be taken to the post office.

So here is a picture of the surprise goodness that brightened my day yesterday and if anyone can tell me where it came from I will be very grateful.

Virgo She Did It Her Way

From the back of the book:
In life, Virgo had two choices, living their way or living her way. She realized that she would lose herself doing it their way and began to wonder if she could take her life back doing it her way. Determined, she set out on a journey to find the answer.

Virgo put everyone and everything first and learned the hard way what unappreciation was. The day finally came when she took a long hard look in the "mirror" and realized that she had to change.

Her mirror told her that "only you can make you happy and everyone else contributes to your happiness." Now the challenge will be who you choose to put first.

I will admit that this book was quite hard to read. There are a few words missing and a couple of typos. It didn't stop me from reading it though. There is an awesome message through out this book. Really how many of us put ourselves last? How many of us have a not so great past? How many of us have looked into a mirror and asked "Why am I here" or "What the heck am I really doing"? This book takes you through the life of Virgo while she learns to love herself unconditionally.

This book is the first book of a Trilogy and I am finding myself wanting to read the next two. Throughout this book you will feel for Virgo and some feelings may even come out about your own life. When that happens just grab a pencil or a pen and write it down in the book. This book is also a diary of sorts to write things down as you read. I really like that aspect of this book. I don't know how many times I would be reading a book and right in the middle of the page have to stop to go write something down that came to me while reading.

Buy Virgo She Did It Her Way:
You can find the book here on Amazon.com

Our Snow Day!!

Earlier this week we had some amazingly beautiful snow, which I hated. Yes I really dislike the white stuff to a sense. Maybe it was growing up in Michigan or living in upstate New York but somewhere among living with all 4 seasons I realized that the white stuff that I used to spend hours in and end up having to be bribed with hot chocolate in order to actually come inside the house, as a child, is actually cold. I know BIG shocker right?

Here are a few pictures of our day. Can you believe that once again we have more of that white stuff falling from the El Paso, TX skies as I type this. Who knows if tomorrow will be another picture day or not, only time will tell.

Look at that, Finally a use for all the rocks in our yard.

I will admit that this is the part I love about snow. It makes the mountains look wonderfully beautiful, just like the trees back in Michigan and New York.

My daughter LOVING the snow!! She had so much fun and just like me back in the day, I had to bribe her with Hot Chocolate to get her back in the house.

My oldest was just way over excited as he played. First he wanted to make snowballs, then a snow man, then a village, and the list goes on..

This is my Dustin. He was very unsure of what this white stuff was and why it was falling out of the sky, but most surprising to him was that it was cold.

For myself I hope the snow stays away, but for those kidlets of mine I hope we get lots of snow, so I can take more fun pictures of them.

Bear Portaits

Bear Portraits is another beautiful book which Hachette Book Group gave me the pleasure of reviewing. Seriously who doesn't love to see photographs of bears. Bears are an amazing species and one that some people including myself tend to try to stay away from. Jill Greenberg has done the opposite. She has taken amazing photographs of bears and placed them together with some quotes from various well known people to create this one of kind book. My children and I have looked at this book numerous times and each time they come up with a different favorite photograph. One day it is a picture of a bear cub that looks like it could leave the page and join you to cuddle up on the chair and the next day it is a Polar Bear all stretched out that made them giggle out loud.

About Jill Greenberg:
Jill Greenberg regularly shoots advertising and celebrity portrait photography for such clients as Dreamworks, Sony Pictures, Epson, Entertainment Weekly, and GQ. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. Her photographs of monkeys, dogs, lemurs, and of coarse bears were the face of a large scale Animal Planet ad campaign featured on television and billboards and in New York City subway cars. Jill resides in Los Angeles with her Husband, Robert, and two children.

For more information about Jill Greenberg, visit her website at

You can purchase either one of Jill Greenberg's books at The Hachette Book Group

A Big thank you to the Hachette Book Group for allowing the opportunity to gain a new look about bears, they are amazingly beautiful creatures.

One Hundred Butterflies

One Hundred Butterflies by Harold Feinstein is filled with such beautiful pictures of every imaginable butterfly. I seriously did not know that so many existed.

About Harold Feinstein:
His distinguished career in photography began in 1950, when Edward Steichen his work for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and exhibited it frequently during his tenure there. Feinstein's photographs have also been exhibited by and represented in his collections of the International Center of Photography, the George Eastman House, the Museum of the City of New York, and the Musee d' Art Moderne in Paris. His work has appeared in such periodicals as Life, Audubon, Connoisseur, and Popular Photography. He is the author of One Hundred Flowers, One Hundred Seashells, Foliage, Orchidelirium, The Infinite Rose, and The Infinite Tulip. For more information about Feinstein and his work, visit his website at HaroldFeinstein.com

I have found a new appreciation for the Butterflies that I have seen and also the ones I have yet to see, not to leave out the many I will most likely never get the chance to see up close. At least now I have had the pleasure of seeing the amazing photographs that Harold Feinstein has compiled for this book. Every Butterfly is labeled in this book and most have two photographs per butterfly.

You can shop from a beautiful selection of items at Harold Feinstein Store

You can purchase this book or any of the previous mentioned books at Hachette Book Group

Saving Time and Money This Holiday Season?

I know I am! I am very frugal I guess you say when it comes to the holidays. Learning from years past, I know that kids do not NEED anything except to know what the season is all about. Now that does not stop Santa from visiting, but it does make my family closer. Staples and TwitterMoms have teamed about to ask How are you saving time and money this Holiday Season?
Here are the ways I save money during the Holidays:
1. Shop for your meal items early. Now that Thanksgiving is over, I have restocked my pantry and freezer with items I will need for the all the fun of the Christmas season. I bought everything on sale. The turkey, the ham, green beans, fried onions, cream of mushroom soup, corn, stuffing, items to make our Christmas cookies, items to make our Christmas candy, and items needed to bake our bread and Cinnamon rolls.

2. Get away from name brands. Don't get me wrong I support all brands, but during the holidays when money is a little tighter, I tend to lean more to the store brands. Saving a few cents here and there really add up.

3. Make ahead meals and sides. Go through your traditional foods and look to see what items you can make up ahead of time. Mashed potatoes, squash, Cinnamon rolls, etc. Doing this will save you from not only forgetting an items on the Holiday itself, but also save you time in the kitchen.

4. Storage Containers: Don't forget to have enough containers to store any left overs. My son had to run down to my neighbors house to grab some tin foil, since I had forgotten to pick some up.

5. For presents I really believe that a well thought out gift that costs little is better than the most expensive present. Gifts which are thought out tend to actually be used. This year for instance, all 5 of my nieces are getting a purse made by me and my nephew is getting a sports tote, again made by me. In the end that is 6 gifts for under 20 bucks. Parents, Grandparents, siblings, and a few others will be receiving photo calenders. For all of our giving gifts, as the kids call them, we spent under 100 dollars for about 30 gifts. Not too bad in my eyes and everyone will appreciate their gifts.

6. Make a list: It is very important to start by making a list. list everyone you want to by for, including those you just want to send a card to. Next to their name, list ideas, likes, and dislikes for this person. Even if it will be only a lovely card sent, these likes and dislikes will come out with whatever card you choose.

7. Pre-packaged cards: A box of cards can save you quite a bit and can still be received as a well thought out gift. Take a colored pen or marker and add in a lovely note or some pictures. Did you have family pictures taken? Add one in to the card.

Ways I save time during the Holidays:

1. Like stated above I save a lot of time by baking and cooking early. I start out by making a list, see a list writing trend yet? HaHa On this list I include every item that will be on our table, not only for Christmas but I also include dinners for the month of December. Right now placed next to the turkey and dishes of enchiladas, lasagna, and baked ziti. Candy, pies, bread, cookies, and normal dinner items are listed. I make as much as I can ahead of time. Really when I make up 2-3 dishes of baked Ziti instead of 1, no extra time is used, but I end up having 1 dish in the oven and 1 or 2 in the freezer.

2. Have a plan: Always have a plan for every activity the Holiday season brings. Baking cookies; take a whole weekend and dedicate it to just that. Mix up your dough one day, bake the next, and on the last day decorate. Do all of this with fun holiday music playing as it will make the time seem to fly by.

3. Just like the baking, it is best to have a plan with your gift buying, gift making, and gift sending. I have found that if I look at my list (there is that list again) and cross off items as needed, I stay right on task. Take this week for example, I will be making up all the purses and the sports tote. So my list for this week is to sew one color a day. Starting tonight with pink and blue tomorrow and so on. This way I not only get items done, but I am also not taking a whole weekend doing nothing but sewing.

My top gift ideas:

1. Photo calendar: Not only are these very useful, those who receive them love to flip to see what picture the next month holds.

2. Reusable bags or totes: This list includes shopping bags, library bags, sports bags, purses, etc. Think of what you could put together, a library bag complete with a blank book list, book marks, notepad, and nice pen all wrapped up in the bag.

3. Gift baskets: I absolutely love gift baskets, gift bags, and the like. There are so many different ways to put together a gift basket. Not only can you do this inexpensively, you can put the most thought into it. If someone you know has had a bad year, you can put together a stress basket including, items to take a nice bath, a candle with a relaxing scent, maybe a good book, and possibly a journal with a pen.

Here is the question: What ways to you save time and money during the Holiday Season? Don't forget to check out Staples for more ideas on ways to save.

Just need to get this out!!

I may just be in shock, who knows. I was watching ABC Family with my kids and Reebok's new commercial came on. OMG!!! I had to turn the channel, soooo not family friendly. I just lost ALL respect for the Reebok Company. That commercial NEEDS to be taken off the TV.

Luckily my children are not repeating the slogan, but I am sure there are some kids that picked up on it. I am grreatly dissappointed in the Reebok name at this time.

I need to add Gap to this list. Do they really think that having children pointing to ones behind is appropriate? Seriously! Just have the kids point to the person wearing the sweater and not the behind of someone just because they happen to have the sweater around their waist.

My permission Slip would allow me to make mistakes in grammar without my hubby pointing them out! And it would also allow me to take a bath, go to the bathroom and dress without two little boys feeling it necessary to watch me....

Carolina Pad, Ghostline 13th Birthday Celebration

Carolina Pad's Ghostline turns 13. I really wish they had this product available when I was in school, it would have made many of my school projects easier. I now know what I was missing in school, because Ghostline was not around I had to use a ruler (sometimes a yard stick) and a pencil to try to make my words as straight as I could get them. Usually a project required a really good eraser and two or three tries before I either got it straight or just gave up and left it as is.

What is the Ghostline?: Ghostline products have lines on them, which you can only see up close. I love it!! It is amazing to see poster board with pre-printed grid lines, so you can keep everything straight.
As soon as we received the package of products, I could see my two oldest children's minds start working. They had so many ideas. In the end they each decided on two projects.

My 6 year old daughter decided on making a new chore chart using the nice bright pink poster board. Since being able to make her own chart, she has not missed a day. The next project she wanted to do was to make a chart of her favorite things. She used the tri-fold board for this project.

My 8 year old also made a chore chart, but he used the orange poster board for his. The second project he did was for Cub Scouts. He had to pick a state and tell the state bird, the state tree, and the state flower. This was easily done with the poster board, some pictures, markers, and a little glue.

They loved that the lines were there. They both said it made it easier for them to make their projects nice and neat. We are a home school family and we do many projects around here. I think I will forever have Ghostline products in stock. No more plain boring poster board in this house.

In honor of Ghostline's 13th birthday, Carolina Pad is running a contest. The contest is called Lucky 13 Birthday Contest! They want to know why YOU love these products! In this contest there will be 13, yes 13 winners. What is the prize? Well 13 lucky classrooms will get a whole years supply of Ghostline products worth about $500. Is that not just amazing!! The contest ends November 30th so hurry up and go here to enter.

Thank You to Carolina Pad for allowing me to review what I call miracle products.

I received the products free of charge to do my review and also information about the contest. No other compensation was offered or accepted. The opinions stated above are mine and my children's own and we know not everyone will agree.

and the Winner is..

The winner of the Lenox wine glasses is:#9

What are Your 5 Favorite Holiday Activities to do with Your Kids?

To celebrate the premiere of Dora’s Christmas Carol, Nickelodeon and TwitterMoms want to hear your favorite holiday activities that you like to do with your kids! For your chance to win a $100 gift card go Here and check it out.

Around my house, we absolutely LOVE the Holiday season. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is full of fun activities. Here is a list of my top 5 activities that I love to do with my kids.
I can almost call these traditions (maybe in another year or so).
1) The weekend after Thanksgiving the kids and I listen to Holiday music and put the tree up. While doing this my house is filled with so much laughter. Normally my oldest (who is 8) does some crazy things and makes all of us about fall over with tears running down our faces because we are laughing so hard at and with him. Last year, he pretended to be "the tree" and wrapped himself up with lights (I did not let him plug himself in) and made such goofy faces that you could not help but start to laugh.
2) After the tree is up and decorated, which can take All day, we start baking cookies usually on the Monday or Tuesday following. The kids all help with making my kitchen a beautiful mess. We make all the dough, play outside while the dough is chilling, roll it out, cut it in wonderful shapes, and bake up our 5-8 dozen cookies. And yes the Holiday music is playing the whole time.
3) The next day, after I get the kitchen all cleaned up, we set the table with bowls of colored frosting and every type of sprinkle we can find. We turn the music on again and we all get to work decorating our creations from the prior day. This year Daddy will be able to join in the decorating fun.
4) On Christmas Eve, We all get bundled up in our warmest PJs and we drive around looking at the magic of the season. That is what my now 6 year old has called going to look at the lights for the past 2 years. I think she gets that from me as the lights that others take the time and energy to put up can sometimes simply amaze me. Once we are back home, I make us all a big cup of hot chocolate, can't forget the little white thingys that go on top. While drinking our hot chocolate I read "Twas the night before Christmas".
5) Christmas morning is the most chaotic, most anticipated, and most wonderful day for me. We always have a big breakfast while waiting for Daddy to wake up (when he is home). This also gives them energy to open all the goodness Santa has brought them. After breakfast we all go with coffee in hand to wake up Daddy. Then the smiles, laughing, and fun really start. After presents we do a light lunch and a big (no matter how many are here in the house) Dinner.

We do a few more things within the Holiday season but the 5 above are my favorites. The smiles on my children's faces are priceless. We listen to the wonderful music during every activity.

I want to know, so before you head over to TwitterMoms, leave a comment telling me one of your favorite things to do with your children. No kids, then let me know your favorite thing about the Holiday season.

Certain Dri Solid Anti-Perspirant is such a wonderful product. I enlisted my friends help for this review. She has tried the Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant Roll-on and was very interested in the Solid.
What she said: The Solid is much more convenient than the Roll-on while still offering the great protection of a Certain Dri product.

Stocking Stuffer Idea!! Soft Lips Review and Giveaway!!

Are you looking for a little something to have Santa add to those stockings? SoftLips lip balm comes in little cute tubes perfect for tossing in a stocking, purse, or pocket. I had the opportunity to try out a few different types.

As soon as I opened the box (which I really should not do surrounded by the kidlets) my 2 oldest listened as I read off the names and each took possession of a package. Blake didn't want anything too crazy, so he chose cherry and Natalee who LOVES lip balm went for the sugar plum berry. Now just for some info, we live in El Paso Texas and it is always dry here (even when it rains) so we constantly have lip balm on. SoftLips did not let us down and not one of us had any dry cracked lips.

SoftLips has a Winter limited edition line out right now. The lip balms in this line have SPF 20 lip protectant/sunscreen and come in some really great flavors. They also come in 2 packs which is so convenient. I was able to try the Vanilla, Winter Mint, Cherry (my son's favorite), Sugar Cookie (before my daughter snagged it), Sugar and Spice, and Sugar Plum Berry(my daughters' favorite). All of them are wonderful and have just the right amount of scent. Softlips Lip Balm with SPF 20 offers superb coverage and protection from the environmental elements (such as the wind here in El Paso), as well as a healthy sheen without the heavy waxiness or stickiness of traditional lip balms.

The second line I was able to try is the PURE line, which is Organic and again just amazing. I was able to try peppermint (my favorite), papaya, chai tea, honeydew, acai berry, and pomegranate. SoftLips PURE is the line of premium organic lip conditioners designed with skin-conditioning ingredients to help keep lips soft, supple, and healthy. Softlips PURE is USDA-certified organic and 100% natural. It also contains no animal by-products and is not tested on animals.

How to buy: Ranging from $2.99 to $3.99 Most flavors are available at your local Target, Walgreens, and many other stores.

The Giveaway!! One very lucky reader will win either the 4 limited edition Winter Flavors or the PURE Flavor set, your choice!!
How to enter: Go to SoftLips and have a look around, come back and tell me which of the flavors you would love to try. Make sure you let me know which Flavors you would want, either the Winter Flavors or PURE Flavors, if you won. As always please make sure to leave your email address, so I have a way to get in touch with you if you are the winner.
Giveaway ends 11/30
Good Luck!!

For the love of Thomas!!

Dustin has found a new friend and his name is Thomas or train or choo choo. HaHa I walked into the living room a little bit ago to find the above picture. I have to give a shout out to the creators of Thomas and his friends. Dustin is on the autism spectrum and Thomas along with his friends have kept D a little calmer. Recently some of Thomas' friends came with us to Pizza Hut. As long as Dustin had a train in one hand, he would eat with the other. I was a proud mommy.

Some people look at him crazy while he is running the trains along the edge of the table and repeating "choo choo" over and over, but you know what I don't care what others think anymore. We have to learn to adapt to any situation that may present itself and I am extremely happy that my son has found a love for Thomas and all his friends.

Believe it or not but even other Thomas and friends products help Dustin. I went out and bought him a pair of Thomas Pjs to wear during his time with a babysitter (which doesn't happen often) I believe just wearing them helped him get through the few hours.
When people come over to my house they can expect that a Thomas DVD will be in the DVD player at all times, they will also find trains in every room, and I can't forget the sounds they will here. (Choo Choo)

There are so many different friends for Thomas. Take a look and buy a few for a child in your life. HitHopUSAThere you can also find DVDs, Books, and so many other useful Thomas products.

You can also find Thomas items at your local, Walmart, Target, and other fine stores.

This was not a review persay, just my observation of what is going on in my own house.

Permission Slips Review and Giveaway!!

Sherri Shepherd goes author!! You most likely have watched her as a Stand-Up Comedian, watched her as a film, and of coarse television actress and Not to mention you must have seen her as a co-host for The View. Now you can read her hilarious and painfully honest memoir. Seriously, Permission Slips is an amazing book!!

In this book Sherri shares her struggles, triumphs, and everything she has learned along the way. Have you ever felt guilt about missing an event, a phone call, or just running out of time in your day, well brush that guilt away; Sherri will save the day by letting you or rather telling you how to write yourself a permission slip. Just like in school when you were late and had to go get a slip from the office, you can give yourself permission to miss that phone call, be late for a not so important meeting, or even permission to take a much needed long relaxing bath.

I cannot list just one favorite part of this book, but the sections that stand out for me and had me nodding my head in agreement the most are labeled Family, Mom, and Finally, a "good guy". Just think those are all in the beginning of the book and there are so many other places in this book that I could list.

So who wants a copy of this wonderfully amazing book? I have 3, count them 3 copies to give away to some very lucky readers from Hachette Book Group.

What do you need your permission slip to say? Let me know in a comment to enter this giveaway. Oh and don't forget to leave your email address in your comment also. I would not want to not have a way to contact you if you win. This giveaway will close on 11/25. Good Luck!!

Thank You to Hachette Book Group for providing me with the book to review and for allowing me to offer 3 of my readers to enjoy this book.
I was given the opportunity to review this product because of my membership at
The Product Review Place

I was provided the book free of charge to review, no other compensation was offered or accepted. The opinions stated above are my own and I do not expect everyone to agree.

It actually is the little things...

This past couple of weeks I have learned that, that old saying It's the little things in life that make a difference holds true.
The smile upon the baby's face when he is starving and has a full yucky diaper melts my heart. It is like he is on a schedule and every morning I am presented with a hungry baby, who is slowly stinking up the room, but with this full bright gummy smile on his face.
The white board that is now hanging in the dining AKA classroom. I love it!! I can write assignments on there, to do lists, and anything else that the kids need to know. Right now there is a promise written on there. It reads: Natalee is cooking dinner tomorrow night. Yes, my 6 year old wants to cook with just a little help chicken and rice for the family. How sweet is that?!
The bobcat patch; the patch to start all patches in Cub Scouts. It is just a small diamond shaped patch, but boy did it light up my child's face when he was standing in front of his den and was handed his patch.
Thomas the train: My 2 year old's new obsession. I love to watch him interact with the 2 of 5 DVDs that actually work. While watching he sets up his own track and gets all his trains (handed down to him from my 8 year old) and spends continuous hours playing.

Well that is all for today as I have to get my behind to bed. I leave you with this question; What are some of the small things that you have learned?

Can You Define Yourself With A Scent?

Over at TwitterMoms we were asked a fun question by Downy; If you could define yourself with a scent, what scent would represent you and why?

This was actually quite hard for me since I feel as though I am just your basic everyday type of person. Then it hit me, I am most referred to as Old Fashioned, so what are some old fashioned scents?

To me old fashioned scents come from the kitchen. The wonderful smells coming from the kitchen that bring me back to my childhood. The scents that I came up with are: Cinnamon, apple pie, vanilla, and sugar cookies. Out of those I feel that vanilla is the scent that represents me the most. Vanilla to me in a basic everyday scent and it fits me to a tee.

What scent could define you? Let me know!!

Pretty Please Press, Review and Giveaway

Are you looking for a few books for a child in your life? I was able to review not one but four wonderful books from Pretty Please Press. I will tell a bit about each one, but don’t stop reading because there is a giveaway at the end of this post.

The first book was Kick Block Punch by Jacquie Hann. In this story Sam is a younger child who is taking Karate. He is only a white belt and like any child wants to pass yellow, green, purple, and brown and go straight to a black belt. In the end he does learn that in order to move ahead he must work hard and have patience.
About the author: Jacquie Hann has written and illustrated many children’s books, including the critically acclaimed That Man Is Talking To His Toes, and Up Day Down Day (a Junior Literacy Guild Selection). She teaches children’s book illustration and writing at The New School, holds private workshops, and has lectured extensively throughout the country on the subject of writing and illustrating children’s books. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Jacquie is a third degree black belt in tae kwon do and teaches karate to children. She has a son, Adam, and a daughter, Maya, and lives in New York City with her husband. Everyone in her family has attained the rank of black belt.

The second book was Pynx by Jeffrey Greene. This is such a cute story. Pynx moves into a neighborhood where no one can understand her. Everyone tells her to take her newly hatched babies and go. But then something horrible happens and who saves the day? Yes it was Pynx.
About the author: Jeffrey Greene is a professional artist who began his training at the age of nine with personal instruction by the painter Harry Litchfield. He continued his fine art studies at S.U.N.Y. Binghamton. His illustrated children’s books include Backyard Bear, written by Jim Murphy (selected as a “Pick of the List” book by Publisher’s Weekly); Shadowplay, by Penny Harter; Just My Dad and Me, by Leah Komiko; Red Ribbon, by Sarah Weeks (selected by the Children’s Book Council for a 1995 award in the field of children’s social studies); and The Rain, by Michael Laser. He has taught children’s book writing and illustrating at Parsons School of Design and in private workshops, and has contributed stories and illustrations to many children’s magazines. He lives in New York City.

The next two books are both written by Laura Aimee Garn.
Bella Basset Ballerina is about a basset who after seeing a ballet dreamed of being a dancer. In dog world where Bella lives, only Borzois can dance. Basset Hounds are supposed to stay in the country and work on the farm. What do you think? Can Bella find a way to realize her dreams? This book is wonderfully written and each page makes you want to continue reading.

The Scritchy Little Twitchell Sisters : From the inside cover; Scritchy sisters Lavinia and Emmeline Twichell squabble constantly, and their parents suffer with a noisy, divided household. When the girls are “discovered” by a creative vaudeville producer, their spectacular fights become entertainment! Stardom seems wonderful –but will growing up spoil their success? This book reminds me of my own childhood and growing up with my older brother. Boy did we squabble!
About the author: Laura Aimee Garn is the founder of Pretty Please Press, Inc., a children’s book company in New York. Aimee’s first job was illustrating a dictionary, and she has worked as a graphic designer, a creative director in the cosmetics and jewelry industries, and as a freelance writer. Her two daughters, Louisa and Emma, inspired “The Scritchy Little Twitchell Sisters.” Aimee and her husband and daughters live in New York.
I am very thankful to Pretty Please Press for allowing me to review all four of these wonderful books. I think my children and I each have a different favorite.

Progresso Panko Review and Giveaway!!

Progresso Panko breadcrumbs is like a new twist on bread crumbs.

What makes Panko different?
Panko is made from the soft, tender centers of bread instead of the crust. What you get is a larger, flaky crumb.

I used Panko to make Chicken Parmesan and it turned out wonderful. The breading (chicken dipped in flour, egg, and Panko) turned out such a lovely golden color and the taste, well there is just no words to express how tasty this dish came out. Amazingly enough ALL my children ate this dish and that just never happens in this house.

I recieved a box that contained a box of Panko, a container of chicken broth, a ladle, a slotted spoon, a measuring cup, and the baking dish from MyBlogSpark. Maybe that is why ALL the children were willing to try Panko and proceed to clear their plates as they helped me to open the box when it first arrived.

Available on ProgressoFoods is a coupon for $1.00 off any two Progresso products. At ProgressoBroth you’ll find a coupon for $.50 off a package of broth.

One of my readers can receive the same exact items that I did. Here is how: Visit Progresso Foods, have a look around, and come back and tell me something you learned, a recipe you want to try, or another product you would like to try.

That is it, that is all you have to do. Giveaway ends Friday November 13th.

Good Luck!!

Thank You to MyBlogSpark for the opportunity to review this product. Progresso also provided me with the information, products and giveaway opportunity for one of my readers. I received the above mentioned package in order to do my review. No other compensation was offered or accepted. The opinions stated are my own and not everyone will agree.

Enfant Vision

We as parents know what our children’s favorite foods are, what shoe size they wear (unless like my kids it changes with each style) and what cartoons they like to watch. But, how can we know if they can see correctly?
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), vision disorders are the fourth most common disability among children in the United States, yet many vision problems can take years to detect, making treatment more difficult as vital time passes.
In an effort to shed light on some of the more subtle warning signs of vision problems in young children, Diopsys, Inc., developer and marketer of the Enfant Pediatric VEP Vision Testing System, has created an online vision assessment quiz at . The physician-reviewed, informational quiz, which takes only a few minutes to complete, is comprised of multiple-choice questions covering several areas that can “red flag” signs of a potential vision problem in children of various ages, including such actions as the inability to make steady eye contact, or involuntarily covering one eye to see something better.
The new quiz does not take the place of a professional vision examination, but it is there to create awareness of a silent problem.
For more information on the Enfant or to find a pediatrician offering the test near you, visit enfantvision

As someone who wears glasses in order to see, my children's eyesight is very important. I took the quiz for each of them and I now have appts for my 2 oldest. So take the quiz and have your children's eyes checked out if need be, it never hurts for them to get checked out.

CharcoCaps Review

CharcoCaps is a natural, easy-to-swallow, over-the-counter activated charcoal capsule that stimulates and supports the body's own defenses against intestinal gas. While we all experience gas about 14 times a day, CharcoCaps helps to naturally relive gas discomfort, pressure and bloating, which helps absorb gas and the embarrassing odor.
It's also great to take when flying since it helps eliminate 'jet bloat'.
Health tips, videos and a down loadable food diary are also available at CharcoCaps

How I used CharcoCaps:
Shhhh don't tell my hubby that I put this on my blog. HaHa I passed them over to him to use. My main reason to have him try them is because after every meal he can clear a room and that is putting it nicely. I was pleasantly surprised that they worked. He took them with dinner and did not make me want to leave the bedroom when it was time for us to turn in for the night. So if you are anything like my hubby, married to someone, or even spend a lot of time with someone who can clear a room after a meal, then pick up some CharcoCaps and try them out.

CharcoCaps Gas Card Giveaway: With gas prices still on the rise, CharcoCaps is offering a monthly $100 pre-paid gasoline card (while supplies last). Simply take the gas etiquette quiz and sign-up to win the gas cards by following this link here. Winners are contacted each month so that the pre-paid gas card can be purchased for their local gas station. This can sure be useful for daycations, staycations, or just driving around town to the supermarket, etc.

Florastor And Florastor Kids Review

What is Florastor and Florastor Kids?
Antibiotics are necessary to treat bacterial infections like strep throat or ear infections, but they are not without side effects. One out of five people taking antibiotics will suffer from antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD). One way to help protect your tummy or your child's tummy from AAD is to try a probiotic supplement like Florastor and Florastor Kids.
Florastor and Florastor Kids have been clinically proven to help prevent and manage AAD. Florastor and Florastor Kids contain a beneficial yeast called Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii) that helps repopulate your tummy with good microorganisms that protect against AAD. Because Florastor contains a yeast probiotic, it won't be killed off by antibiotics like bacterial probiotics will be.
Florastor comes in a capsule, and Florastor Kids, which is safe to use in children as young as 2 months, is a powder, so it can be mixed into formula, juice, soft foods like applesauce, etc.

How I used it!
I was able to try this probiotic out with my 2 year old as we were just told by his Dietitian that he needed to be put on Probiotics for at least 30 days. As I only had a sample, I went out and bought the 20 packet box. Now we are still using it but there has already been a change for the better within my son.
It not only works for AAD but like in my son's case it has helped change his yucky poos into tolerable poos. (that was the best way to put it) For the first time in over 2 years I have a good feeling that I will be able start potty training him without having to worry about the yucky poos. I do have to go out and get more to finish off his 30 days, but this is something that I will now keep in my house.

Where you can buy Florastor and Florastor Kids:

CVS Pharmacy
Duane Reade
H.E.B.
Kerr Drug
Kroger
Longs Drugs
Navarro
Publix
Rite Aid
Target
Walgreens

Don't forget to ask your local pharmacist about Florastor and Florastor Kids.
